About Wellness Fi

We’re a team of bookkeepers, tax advisors, and a CPA who work only with mental health practices. Since 2019, we’ve worked with about 300 private practices across the U.S., from solo counselors in their first year to group practices with several clinicians.

Most accountants treat a therapy practice like any other small business. We don’t. We already know what an insurance deposit from your EHR looks like, how supervision fees and CEUs are handled, and when an S-corp starts to make sense for a clinician. You don’t have to explain your business to us before we can help.

We’re based in Austin, Texas, and work with practices in every state.

Your bookkeeper. Keeps your books current every month and sends you a clear report of what came in, what went out, and what to set aside for taxes.

Your tax advisor. Your main point of contact. Answers your tax questions, plans ahead with you, and prepares your returns if we file for you. Our advisors include a CPA and IRS Enrolled Agents.

The team behind them. Your advisor works with co-advisors and administrative specialists, so someone who can see your file is there when your advisor is away.

We’re typically a good fit for:

  • Licensed therapists (mental, physical, speech, occupational, massage), counselors, psychologists, social workers, nutritionists and others in private practice
  • Solo practices that are ready to hand off the books
  • Group practices with associates, payroll, and more than one location
  • Practice owners thinking about an S-corp

We Might not be a good fit for:

  • Construction, E-Commerce, Restaurants
  • You’re not yet seeing clients, or your practice nets under about $50,000 a year. You may not need us yet, and we’ll tell you so.
  • You prefer to have a software that you handle yourself & do the bookkeeping & accounting yourself.

Mark Schwarz

Operations

Mark has helped more than 100 business owners grow revenue, lower expenses, and run their businesses more smoothly. He’s also seen the value of counseling firsthand: on their wedding day, he and his wife agreed to go to counseling at least once a year, and it’s been one of the healthiest decisions they’ve made. Mark lives in Austin, is a dad of four, and is an avid runner.

Eddie Valls

Founder Emeritus

Eddie founded WellnessFi in 2019. Therapists and life coaches helped him through a quarter-life crisis and into becoming a confident, focused business owner, and he wanted to give back to the mental health community with what he knows best: accounting and finance. Eddie led WellnessFi until 2023 before moving on to other interests. He lives in Austin and spends as much time with his family as he can.
